Orangutans are currently only found in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. The name orangutan means "man of the forest" in Malay. The Sumatran orangutan is critically endangered. They share 94.6% of our genetic make-up and are highly intelligent. Habitats are disappearing due to palm oil plantations, illegal logging and other agricultural plantations.
